Dr Gregory AmosBSc (Hons.), MBBS, Dr rer medic (Essen), FRANZCR

Dr Gregory Amos graduated with his MBBS from the University of Queensland in 2002. Dr Amos completed his residency at the Toowoomba Base Hospital, and undertook specialist training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital from 2005 to 2010, completing a fellowship in cross-sectional imaging in 2010.  Since then he has been active in private radiology in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and joined Queensland X-Ray in February 2017.

Areas of special interest:  Abdominal imaging focused on MRI of the hepatobiliary system and pancreas, prostate, rectum, enterography and colonography, CT guided intervention.

Dr Peter BrookfieldMBBS, FRANZCR

Clinical Experience: Dr Brookfield graduated with his MBBS from Monash University in 2005. He completed his Master of Medicine in Radiology at Melbourne University and completed his surgical residency at the Alfred Hospital in Victoria.

Dr Brookfield is accredited to report on CT Coronary Angiography and has sub-specialty training in Neuroradiology, Breast imaging and MRI Musculoskeletal imaging.

He has been working for Queensland X-Ray since 2015 and is based in Townsville.

Dr Elizabeth CarterMBBS, FRANZCR

Clinical Experience: Dr Carter obtained her FRANZCR in Adelaide. She undertook special interest cardiac radiology training including echocardiography, CTCA, C MRI, initially at Southampton General Hospital and St Thomas Hospitals in London, and then later at Prince Charles Hospital. As well as having completed specialised training in breast imaging, Dr Carter has been a longstanding VMO at BreastScreen QLD since 1997.

Areas of special interest: Women’s (breast, gynaecological, BMD), cardiothoracic/cardiovascular imaging, (CT, MRI, echocardiography), vascular and MSK imaging.

Dr Albert ChongMBBS, FRANZCR

Dr Chong qualified in general medicine in 1986 from the University of Queensland before becoming qualifying in Radiology from Princess Alexandra Hospital. He worked in private practice in Hervey Bay and Maryborough and then re-located to Hong Kong in 2000 to work at the Adventist Hospital. In 2006, Dr Chong moved back to Australia before he joined Queensland X-Ray in 2007.

Dr Michael CurleyMBBS

Dr Curley graduated with his MBBS from University of Queensland in 2007. This was following his previous studies in radiography as well as a career in Sonography with the NHS, United Kingdom. He undertook his clinical training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital before joining QXR in 2014. Dr Curley is also a regular lecturer at the University of Queensland Rural Clinical School in Toowoomba.

After graduating from the University of Queensland in 2002, Dr De Leacy has since trained as a registrar based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. She undertook a Fellowship in MRI at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Brisbane with particular emphasis on orthopaedic oncology, hepatobiliary and body MRI. Dr De Leacy joined Queensland X-Ray as a Musculoskeletal MRI Fellow in 2011.

Dr John FenwickMBChB, FRANZCR

Clinical Experience: Dr Fenwick completed his Radiology Fellowship training in 1992 having undertaken advanced training in Cardiac Radiology in his final year. He then went on to a senior registrar position in Bristol, training in echocardiography and cardiac MRI before joining Queensland X-Ray in 1993. He has made a substantial contribution to the cardiovascular imaging services of the practice, including CT coronary angiography, cardiac MRI, echocardiography, and vascular Doppler. Dr Fenwick regularly works at the Wynnum practice and is also Managing Radiologist of Queensland X-Ray Greenslopes Private Hospital.

Areas of special interest: Cardiac ultrasound, CT and MRI, non-invasive vascular imaging, abdominal imaging, and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Clinical Experience: Dr Gimpel graduated from the Merchant Taylors School and University of Birmingham (UK). He has worked as internal medicine and radiology registrar and staff radiologist at Royal Brisbane Hospital. He has also completed a fellowship in CT at the University of California (USA) and a fellowship in MRI at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide. In 1981, Dr Gimpel worked in private practice until joining the team at Queensland X-Ray in 2003. He is also the VMO to Queensland Chest Clinic and BreastScreen.

Dr Neels GrobbelaarMBChB, FCRAD, FRANZCR (Sydney)

Clinical Experience: Dr Grobbelaar completed an internship in 1994 at Pretoria Academic Hospital (South Africa), followed by one year as a medical officer at the Orthopaedics Department of 1-Military Hospital in Pretoria. His Registrar training was completed from 1996-2000 in Radiology, and he undertook an MRI Fellowship in Detroit, Michigan at the Henry Ford Hospital, before moving to Australia in 2001. He commenced with Castlereagh Imaging in 2001 and relocated to Queensland X-Ray in 2005.

Areas of special interest: Musculoskeletal ultrasound/intervention and infant hip ultrasound, breast MRI.

Dr Jones trained in Nephrology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, University of Newcastle (UK) and University of Western Ontario (Canada). He was the Director of the Renal Unit Toowoomba Base Hospital between 1978-2001. He received his training in Nuclear Medicine at Royal Brisbane Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospitals. He commenced private practice in Nuclear Medicine in 1984. Dr Jones completed his PET/CT training at Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Clinic in Melbourne. He joined Queensland X-Ray in 1997.

Dr Thomas MartinBSc, MBBS, FRANZCR, MMed

Clinical Experience: Dr Martin was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Queensland in 2004. Dr Martin trained in Radiology at Monash Health in Melbourne and obtained his qualification in February 2015.

He obtained a Masters of Medicine Degree in Radiology from the University of Melbourne in December 2015. He completed six months of sub-specialty training in Interventional Radiology at Monash Health in Melbourne and then undertook a year of fellowship training in Interventional Radiology and Vascular Imaging at Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand.

Dr Martin joined Queensland X-Ray in August 2016.

Dr McMeniman graduated with first class honours from the University of Queensland Medical School in 2005, where he also earned the John Weinholt memorial prize for medicine. He completed his radiology training in 2012 and spent 6 months focusing on neuroimaging at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. He then commenced a year of subspecialised training in musculoskeletal imaging and intervention at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada before joining Queensland X-Ray in 2013.

Dr Patel studied medicine at University of Auckland and was awarded a senior scholarship in pre-clinical years followed by General Practice prize in his final year. He commenced employment with Waikato Hospital (NZ) in 2002 as a resident doctor and in 2007 began training in Radiology, on a RANZCR approved training programme. A few years later in 2012 Dr Patel took up position of an Advanced Trainee in Cross-sectional imaging including PET/CT at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. He joined Queensland X-Ray in 2013.

Dr Thorn had Surgical and Radiology Registrar positions at Waikato Hospital (NZ). He is a former Consultant Radiologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, and commenced private practice in 1990. Dr Thorn joined Queensland X-Ray in 2003.

Areas of special interest: CT, ultrasound and radiology in developing countries. Dr Thorn has played a vital role in helping develop the Radiology Department at HEAL Africa Hospital, Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, and frequently donates his own time and finances to the project.

Dr Bastian-Jordan undertook his radiology training with the University of Queensland through the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He has subsequently undertaken a fellowship in MSK with Queensland X-Ray and a fellowship in Abdominal and Cross sectional imaging through the Schulich school of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. Dr Bastian-Jordan joined Queensland X-Ray in 2013 and currently holds an adjunct professor position with Western University for continuing research in prostate MRI, rectal cancer staging and liver imaging.

Dr Sanjay Dhupelia was awarded a Bachelor of Surgery and a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Queensland in 2002 and trained as a Radiologist at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in Queensland. He undertook a Neuroradiology imaging Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and at Queensland X-Ray. Following this he completed a cross sectional and interventional Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada. He joined Queensland X-Ray in 2011 and works in private practice in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.

He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland and is currently the president of the Australasian Musculoskeletal Imaging Group (AMSIG)

Areas of special interest: Musculoskeletal and spinal intervention, dynamic imaging of the lower limb, cartilage mapping as well as popliteal artery entrapment syndrome.

Clinical Experience: A Queensland graduate, Dr Dubois also spent ten years in academic radiology in the United States of America. He was Associate Professor of Radiology at Duke University Medical School (USA) and Chief of Neuroradiology at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital. Later he became Director of Computerised Medical Imaging of South California. He joined Queensland X-Ray in 1982 and is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Queensland Medical School. Dr Dubois is a director of Sonic Healthcare Ltd. (SHL) and is CEO of SHL’s Imaging Division.

After moving to Australia, he worked as Director of Neuroradiology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and as Director of Radiology at Greenslopes Veterans Hospital. Dr Sunil KaniyurMBBS, MRCP (UK) FRCR (UK)

After graduating from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore (India), Dr Kaniyur trained within various sub-specialities of Medicine in the UK, obtaining his MRCP there in 1997. He continued his training in radiology at St Barts and the London Hospitals NHS Trust (UK) and was awarded his FRCR in 2001. Dr Kaniyur sub-specialised in Head and Neck Imaging and Neuroradiology at the Royal London and the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospitals in London. Dr Kaniyur has trained in Cardiac CT at Massachusetts General Hospital (USA) and Johns Hopkins Hospital (USA) obtaining level 3 accreditation with SCCT. He holds level B Cardiac CT specialist status with RANZCR. Dr Kaniyur worked as a Consultant Radiologist at Lister hospital, Hertfordshire (UK) until 2011 when he moved to Australia and joined Queensland X-Ray.

Clinical Experience: Dr Martin was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Queensland in 2004. Dr Martin trained in Radiology at Monash Health in Melbourne and obtained his qualification in February 2015.

He obtained a Masters of Medicine Degree in Radiology from the University of Melbourne in December 2015. He completed six months of sub-specialty training in Interventional Radiology at Monash Health in Melbourne and then undertook a year of fellowship training in Interventional Radiology and Vascular Imaging at Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand.

Dr Martin joined Queensland X-Ray in August 2016.

Dr Andrew McLaughlanMBBS, FRANZCR

After radiology training at PANCH and the Alfred Hospitals in Victoria, Dr McLaughlan gained experience in public and private practices including five years in his own private practice in Melbourne. Most recently, he was Director of Radiology at Goulburn Valley Base Hospital in Victoria. Dr McLaughlan returned to Queensland X-Ray after initially commencing with the practice in 2001.

Dr Morgan McMenimanMBBS, BSc, FRANZCR

Dr McMeniman graduated with first class honours from the University of Queensland Medical School in 2005, where he also earned the John Weinholt memorial prize for medicine. He completed his radiology training in 2012 and spent 6 months focusing on neuroimaging at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. He then commenced a year of subspecialised training in musculoskeletal imaging and intervention at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada before joining Queensland X-Ray in 2013.

Dr Parikh underwent a Residency with a Registrar position at Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, and then completed Fellowships in CT and Neuroradiology at Bombay Hospital. He was an Assistant Radiologist at Tata Memorial Hospital and consultant Radiologist in CT Scanning, Sonography and Mammography at the Nanavati Hospital. Dr Parikh then commenced a position as a Consultant Radiologist in CT and MRI at NM Medical Centre and S L Raheja Hospital (India). He joined Queensland X-Ray in 2006.

Dr Patel graduated from the University of Manchester, England. In 1986 he obtained the Membership of the Royal Colleges and Physicians (MRCP) and joined the radiology training program in Manchester. Dr Patel moved to Australia in 1995 following the completion of an interventional fellowship and working as a consultant radiologist. In 1996 he was awarded the FRANZCR. Dr Patel worked in Central Queensland and on the Tweed coast in both public and private radiology before joining Queensland X-Ray in 2012.

Dr Patel studied medicine at University of Auckland and was awarded a senior scholarship in pre-clinical years followed by General Practice prize in his final year. He commenced employment with Waikato Hospital (NZ) in 2002 as a resident doctor and in 2007 began training in Radiology, on a RANZCR approved training programme. A few years later in 2012 Dr Patel took up position of an Advanced Trainee in Cross-sectional imaging including PET/CT at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. He joined Queensland X-Ray in 2013.

Dr Tyson ReeveMBBS, FRANZCR, FAANMS.

Dr Reeve graduated with his MBBS from James Cook University in 2005.

He completed his Internship and early residency at The Townsville Hospital.   He completed a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine at TTH, before working as a locum throughout North Queensland.

He commenced Radiology Training in 2010, under the Princess Alexandra Hospital hub, but completed the first two years of training at TTH before relocating to Brisbane. He then completed a 2 year subspecialty fellowship in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT within QXR.

He has been working for Queensland X-Ray since 2014. He is currently a dual trained Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine Specialist, and is based in Townsville.

Dr Shulman obtained his medical degree from the University of Queensland and advanced radiology training through the Royal Brisbane Hospital. He completed a musculoskeletal imaging fellowship at the University of Toronto and Joint Department of Medical Imaging primarily at Mt Sinai Hospital. He also undertook Cardiac Imaging Fellowships at the Harefield and Royal Brompton Trust as well as University Hospital Southampton in the UK before moving back to Australia. In 2015, Dr Shulman was named the European Society of Radiology Albert L. Baert Editorial Fellow. He has been awarded the European Diploma in Cardiac Imaging, and holds international accreditation to interpret cardiac MRI as well as the highest possible CT coronary artery certification.

Dr Thorn had Surgical and Radiology Registrar positions at Waikato Hospital (NZ). He is a former Consultant Radiologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, and commenced private practice in 1990. Dr Thorn joined Queensland X-Ray in 2003.

Areas of special interest: CT, ultrasound and radiology in developing countries. Dr Thorn has played a vital role in helping develop the Radiology Department at HEAL Africa Hospital, Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, and frequently donates his own time and finances to the project.

Dr van Tonder studied medicine in South Africa at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He followed on by completing a two year internship at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg. In 2009 he moved to Australia and started his career in Medical Imaging at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. Following his completion of the Registrar post, and a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology and MRI, he was offered the position of Consultant. He completed sub specialist training in thoracic imaging at the Royal Brompton Hospital London before joining Queensland X-Ray in 2017.

Clinical Experience: Dr Webb graduated from the University of Queensland in 1993. He completed his medical registrar training and advanced physician training in Nuclear Medicine at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He has PET credentials and full accreditation with RACP JSAC Nuclear Medicine. Dr Webb joined Queensland X-Ray in 2008.
