Congratulations to our Toowoomba graduate radiographer, Georgia Sim on being the first recipient of the Queens;and X-Ray regional scholarship program in Toowoomba.
Georgia started her student placements at the beginning of the year with QXR Toowoomba, where her clinical and personal skills were quickly recognised by all those who worked with her, including Chief Radiographer at St Andrew’s, Cam Watt.
“Over the course of her first clinical placement with QXR at St Andrew’s Hospital, Georgia demonstrated all the skills required as well as a strong interest in continuing her career regionally,” Cam explained. By completing her final year placement with us, and then working with us, we both reap the benefits. This was an excellent opportunity for Georgia to begin her career with a team she is already familiar with. She is hitting the ground running with a good understanding of QXR and the region. Allowing for expansion of skill sets and quicker progression.”
So how does it feel to be the very first recipient of the regional scholarship in Toowoomba? Pretty amazing apparently! Georgia clarifies;
“Queensland X-Ray Toowoomba embraces a team mentality when it comes to delivering personalised care to patients. Whilst working within the team I am encouraged to seek out learning experiences and I feel supported when I am developing my skills and knowledge. I am very fortunate to work within a company that provides so many opportunities for personal and professional growth. With secured employment, my clinical placements in fourth year were focused on integration into the Toowoomba team and seamless transitioning from student to graduate radiographer. I am very grateful to Queensland X-Ray and Cam for the opportunities they have provided me.”
Welcome to #teamQXR Georgia!
