The Queensland Government has released the 2024 Children’s Health Queensland Research Impact Report, highlighting the state’s growing global leadership in paediatric healthcare research. Central to this progress is the long-standing Clinical Masters Fellowship at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, supported by Queensland X-Ray in partnership with Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and Children’s Health Queensland. Now in its 20th year, the Fellowship continues to play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in clinical research.
The 2024 report showcases a year of outstanding progress: 158 active research projects and 657 peer-reviewed publications have positioned Children’s Health Queensland as a national leader in translating research into life-changing care. Among the standout contributions is the work of the Biomechanics & Spine Research Group (BSRG), whose feature on pages 16–19 of the report highlights their clinical impact on children living with spinal deformities. The group's research, with support from Queensland X-Ray — focused on advancing non-invasive diagnostics, improving surgical outcomes, and personalising treatment for spinal conditions — demonstrates the power of research to transform care pathways for young patients.
This commitment to meaningful outcomes is reflected in the breadth of global collaboration. In 2024, Children’s Health Queensland partnered with leading research institutions in 91 cities across 41 countries, further cementing its role on the international stage. The 2024 impact report affirms the success of this vision—and recognises Queensland X-Ray’s valued, long-term support in helping groups like BSRG turn research into tangible outcomes for patients.
