Queensland X-Ray Medical Imaging Grant

Queensland X-Ray’s Medical Imaging Grant supports 3rd and 4th year University of Newcastle students with the travel and accommodation costs associated with carrying out a placement with Queensland X-Ray.

  • Queensland Placements

    Placements are on offer across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Townsville, Mackay, and Cairns.

  • Eligibility

    Applications open to 3rd and 4th year medical imaging students studying at University of Newcastle. You must be able to complete at least one clinical placement with Queensland X-Ray.

More information

  • Recipients of a Queensland X-Ray Grant will receive:

    • A clinical placement at a Queensland X-Ray site (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Townsville, Mackay, or Cairns).
    • $5,000 in funding to assist with out-of-pocket expenses associated with undertaking a regional placement
    • Optional two weeks of accommodation upon arrival at the placement location, if required.
  • Applicants must:

    • Be enrolled as a third or fourth year student in the Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Honours) at the University of Newcastle.
    • Have a minimum GPA of 4.0 at the time of application and maintain it until placement commencement.
    • Be willing to undertake a clinical placement at one of the offered Queensland X-Ray locations

    Queensland X-Ray sites eligible for this placement are:

    • Brisbane
    • Gold Coast
    • Toowoomba
    • Townsville
    • Mackay
    • Cairns

    Note:  While we endeavour to support student preference where possible, the location of your placement will be subject to availability and may offered at any one of the available sites.

    • Cover Letter (including why you would like to undertake a placement at Queensland X-Ray)
    • Location preference 

    Once the selection process is complete, you will be notified in writing of the outcome of your application. The successful applicant may be notified of the outcome of their application by telephone or email prior to receiving the formal written notification.

  • Grant recipients must:

    • Maintain a grade point average of at least 4.0 throughout the placement period
    • Maintain enrollment (full-time or part-time) in their program

    The Grant is paid in full upon commencement of your placement.
