The Clontarf Foundation

During NAIDOC Week, QXR held a series of fundraising morning teas across the practices for The Clontarf Foundation. All funds raised by our folks were matched by QXR

The Clontarf Foundation uses a unique, innovative and highly successful approach to target one of the most at risk groups in contemporary Australian society – young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. It’s about developing the values, skills and abilities that will assist the boys to transition into meaningful employment and achieve better life outcomes.

Since 2000, Clontarf has helped more than 4,782 young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men complete Year 12 and find employment. Many of them have gone on to have successful careers, purchase property, start their own young families and maintain healthy and fulfilling lives. They remain an important part of the Clontarf family and continue to provide support, guidance and inspiration to the current boys participating in the program.

Sonic Healthcare, QXR’s parent company, has been supporting Clontarf since 2017 to help close the health gap for these young men through medical assessments, with an additional focus on mental health and wellbeing. Some of these boys and young men have had limited access to these health checks in the past, making it vital to identify any issues so effective treatment and management can be put in place.
