Student Placements at Queensland X-Ray

Queensland X-Ray is one of the largest and longest-standing radiology businesses in Queensland. We provide placements for medical imaging students across Queensland. Placements are offered directly through your university. For more information about carrying out a placement with us, please speak to your student coordinator.

Preparing for Your Student Placement

To ensure you're ready for a safe and successful placement experience at Queensland X-Ray, there are some requirements that must be completed prior to commencement.

Your university's Student Coordinator will be able to assist with completing the pre placement checks outlined below.

Next Steps – Pre Placement Checks

  • All students are required to obtain and maintain a National Police Certificate for the full duration of their clinical placement.

    • This certificate must be no more than three (3) years old at the end of your placement.
  • As part of your placement, you might be interacting with patients that are children, due to this, you must hold a valid Blue Card issued by Blue Card Services (Department of Justice).

    • Click here to find out more about how to apply for your Blue Card.
  • As a Queensland X-Ray student on placement, you may be attending hospital sites where specific policies around immunisation and infection control apply.

Queensland X-Ray aligns with the requirements of each individual hospital site, including those governed by Queensland Health. This means that all students must meet the immunisation standards set by the facility in which they are placed.

In most cases, this will include vaccinations for:

    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
    • Pertussis (whooping cough)
    • Hepatitis B

⚠️ Additional vaccinations may be required depending on the location of your placement and current public health advice (e.g. seasonal flu or COVID-19).

Failure to meet these immunisation requirements may result in restricted or denied access to the hospital site, and in turn, your placement.
