Queensland X-Ray and Queensland Museum renew research partnership

Queensland X-Ray is proud to announce the renewal of our longstanding research partnership with the Queensland Museum.

Through this collaboration, museum scientists utilise CT technology to analyse artefacts and once-living organisms, unlocking vital information for research projects.

Previous imaging has helped reveal the internal structures of prehistoric creatures, including the Thylacoleo Carnifex (marsupial lion), discovered in the Toowoomba region.  The use of Queensland X-Ray technology has allowed museum researchers to reconstruct the anatomy and morphology of dinosaurs, including their skeletal structure, musculature and internal organs.

Recent scans conducted through our partnership have included the examination of indigenous artwork for documentation and further study, scanning of Roman and Greek glassware and pottery to determine age, as well as the scanning and analysis of human remains from the HMS Pandora shipwreck, which sank off the coast of Townsville in 1791.

Queensland X-Ray welcomes the renewal of this partnership and looks forward to continuing to support Queensland Museum in advancing scientific and historic discovery.
