Lung Foundation Australia Releases 2025 Impact Report

Lung Foundation Australia has released its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting a strong year of lung health advocacy, research and support for Australians living with lung disease.

A major focus of the report is the introduction of Australia’s National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP), the first new national cancer screening program in 20 years, which commenced in July 2025.

Queensland X-Ray is a provider of the NLCSP, offering bulk-billed low dose Chest CT scans for all eligible patients. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Australia and early detection can help to improve outcomes.

The report also underscores the importance of collaboration across the health sector, for its contribution to improving access to high-quality diagnostic imaging and supporting early detection initiatives, including raising awareness of the implementation of the NLCSP. These services play a vital role in strengthening pathways from screening through to diagnosis and care.

Lung cancer screening is a quick, non-invasive procedure that uses a low-dose CT imaging to detect lesions and signs of cancer before symptoms appear.

The report reflects a year of strong national advocacy and cross-sector collaboration to improve equity, access to care and lung health outcomes.
