30,000 Queenslanders turn pink for Mater Chicks in Pink International Women’s Day Fun Run

On Sunday, thousands of Queenslanders came together for the Mater Chicks in Pink International Women’s Day Fun Run, proudly presented by Queensland X-Ray.

Braving the weather, participants ran, jogged, walked and rolled through Brisbane and Springfield in a vibrant “Sea of Pink”, helping Mater reach its $2 million fundraising goal for personalised support services and life-saving breast cancer research.

Held on International Women’s Day, the event celebrated the strength and resilience of women, including the 57 women diagnosed with breast cancer every day.

One of Queensland’s largest community fundraising events, the Fun Run supports life-changing research, improved diagnosis and treatment, and practical support services for people facing breast cancer. Queensland X-Ray was proud to be the largest corporate team this year. Communities across the state also joined through regional events and the “5K Your Way” initiative, allowing supporters to complete a 5km walk, roll, run or jog.

More than a fundraiser, the event united the community to celebrate, remember and stand beside those affected by breast cancer.

We look forward to returning in 2027 to continue supporting research, care and better outcomes for all women.
