Paediatric Imaging

At Queensland X-Ray we make sure we pay extra special care when imaging children as we recognise this might not be much fun for them, and can be pretty stressful for parents too.

How we aim to help

Paediatric Imaging covers children up to the age of 16 years.

Within all of our practices, we provide a selection of toys to keep children up to the age of 10 entertained when waiting for their appointment.

While at many of our practices we have specially trained staff in paediatric imaging, in Brisbane, we have a dedicated Obstetric and Paediatric practice based with the grounds of Greenslopes Private Hospital and at our Upper Mount Gravatt practice. These practices have staff who work with children all the time and are therefore experienced with the time and patience required when performing a study or exam.

Low Dose Radiation

At Queensland X-Ray we utilise low dose radiation software on all of our equipment.

You can read about radiation dose here.

Your referring Doctor will most likely have discussed with you that while there is a minute exposure to radiation for many of our scans, the benefits outweigh the risks. If you’re concerned, you can read more about radiation dose here, and our technical staff are more than happy to talk through other imaging options.

Appointment

Imaging our youngest patients sometimes takes more time. We’ll factor this into your appointment at the time of booking. However, if your child has had previous imaging and you think we should make a note of their experience, please let our reception staff know.

After your examination

The results of your child’s scan will be sent directly to your referring Doctor and we encourage you book a timely follow-up appointment to discuss your results with them.
