Why do I need to send in my referral?

We need the referral to know what type of scan we are booking. The clinical notes on the referral tell us what scan is required, allowing us to book and quote you as accurately as possible.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Appointments are required for ALL scans other than standard X-Rays.

Do I need to prep for my appointment?

Different scans require various preparations. If any preparation is required, you will be informed at the time of making your appointment.

Why can’t ALL scans be performed at ALL practices?

QLD X-Ray have specialist sites such as our Women’s Centre that cater to specific services. Likewise we do not have MRI machines at all sites.

Why do you need to ask personal questions such as my name, address, DOB and phone number when I’ve been to QLD X-Ray before?

This is to ensure our records are up to date.

Why do I need a referral from a doctor?

To ensure the correct scan is being performed for your symptoms and to allow for Medicare rebate if applicable.

Why do I have to pay a co-payment for my scan?

We are able to bulk bill many services at QLD X-Ray,  however there are some services that Medicare does not cover the full price and a GAP fee is applicable.

How do I make an appointment if my region isn't listed?

If your region isn’t listed that’s because we haven’t rolled out Live Bookings in your area yet. Whilst we hope to bring this service to all of our locations soon, in the meantime you can call our bookings team on 1300 781 926.
