History

Young male presented with whipper snipper injury. Hit a rock. Penetrating injury?

Imaging

CT upper abdomen and pelvis.

Findings

CT showed abdominal wall wound with free intraperitoneal gas and metallic foreign body.

Management

Diagnostic laparoscopy has confirmed the metallic foreign body to have entered the abdomen and was lodged within a loop of small bowel requiring an enterotomy, removal and closure.

Additional History

The patient was using metallic blades and hit a rock snapping the tip off and flying into his abdomen (he was not wearing a shirt!)
