Region’s only 16-slice SPECT/CT scanner in Mackay NOW OPEN

Queensland X-Ray Mater is pleased to announce the arrival of a new Nuclear Medicine Scanner

The Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT) with 16 -slice CT is a first for the Mackay region.

SPECT/CT images from the Symbia T16 will improve overall diagnostic sensitivity and specificity by:

Improved Anatomic Localisation.
Regions of increased uptake on a Nuclear Medicine image can now be precisely anatomically localised. This allows for better differentiation between abnormal and normal physiological uptake, resulting in a more targeted approach to patient therapy.

Improved Image Quality.
CT data can be used to perform high quality attenuation correction of the SPECT images, significantly reducing image noise in comparison to current techniques.

SPECT/CT is an excellent imaging modality for:

  •   Sectional spinal imaging

  •   Myocardial perfusion imaging

  •   Carpal regions and feet

  •   Liver lesions

  •   Parathyroid studies

  •  Sentinel node localisation

Other routine Nuclear Medicine studies performed include:

  •   Bone Scanning

  •   Cerebral Perfusion Studies

  •   V/Q Lung Scans

  •   Gated Heart Pool Scans

  •   Renal imaging (functional and cortical)

  •   Hepatobiliary

  •  Gastric motility and colonic transit
