NEW Digital Mammography service
Queensland X-Ray has introduced a digital mammography service at its Women’s Diagnostic Centres (WDC) at both Sunnybank Private Hospital and the Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane.
The new equipment will provide improved resolution and image quality, reduced radiation dose, shorter processing times and less repeat films. The equipment also enables Eviva vacuum assisted biopsies in either 9 or 12 gauge and the angled compression reduces patient discomfort of compression of the chest wall.
Digital Mammography has been shown to have superior diagnostic accuracy in certain sub-sets of patients. Queensland X-Ray continues to offer a high quality computerised mammography service at its community practices for routine and screening studies. Complex or high risk patients or those being referred by breast specialists are recommended to be referred to our specialists Women’s Diagnostic Centres.
